Europe’s leading provider of digital guest communication solutions for hotels has welcomed a new VP of engineering, who is set to oversee the delivery of its technology expertise, helping the firm to reach new heights and continue its upward market trajectory.

SuitePad, which caters to hotels across the UK and Europe, has brought in Alex Fong to head up its engineering arm, as it seeks to progress from a largely Europe-focused player to a true global leader.

As VP of Engineering, Alex will be tasked with managing and expanding the firm’s team of engineers, while also overseeing strategic product development. SuitePad’s offering is built on a service-orientated architecture that powers tens of thousands of devices throughout hotels across the world, and Alex will be responsible not only for maintaining its efficiency, but also projecting its far-reaching growth.

In his role, Alex will work closely with SuitePad’s founders, helping to ensure the firm is delivering cutting edge technology that stays true to its core principles.

A University of Edinburgh graduate, Alex has years of software engineering experience, having worked in the Netherlands and in Germany as a software developer and engineer for brands that include fromAtoB, Bidmath, Zaypay and the Dutch Central Bank, DNB.

Speaking of his appointment, Alex Fong, said: “"I'm really excited to be here at SuitePad, especially as an end to the pandemic is now in sight which is great news for the hospitality industry. I hope to hit the ground running by helping SuitePad scale up its business and focus on delivering more value for our customers worldwide."

Moritz von Petersdorff-Campen, Co-Founder and Managing Director of SuitePad, said: “Alex’s extensive engineering experience will prove immensely valuable in moving the company forward as we look to scale new heights. Our operation is going from strength to strength as we move into an ever more global market, and Alex will play a large part in driving that. We’re delighted to have someone of his talent and ability onboard.”

SuitePad’s products aim to increase both guest satisfaction and hotel efficiency, and are designed to perform as a convenient, one-stop concierge. Its in-room guest tablets act as a digital guest directory, enabling access to key hotel services, including F&B ordering, laundry services, in-room entertainment, control of room cleaning services and all-important information on hotels and their surrounding areas.

Its hotel clients include Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London and properties from the Cross Hotels & Resorts, Kempinski and Van der Valk hotel groups, and many more.
