Silver cutlery from HEPP for Michelin star cuisine in China

European classics meet Asian refinement: The “Taian Table” gourmet concept by star chef Stefan Stiller is one of only two three-Michelin-star restaurants in Shanghai and impresses connoisseurs with cuisine of the highest standard, a relaxed atmosphere and an exceptional ambience. The table setting is very restrained in order to leave centre stage to the culinary masterpieces. With the ACCENT cutlery collection from HEPP in elegant silver, Stiller now has the perfect companion for his regularly changing seasonal tasting menus. Modern in character, this designer cutlery conveys a classic overall impression, effortlessly creating a blend of tradition and modernity. “Our dishes are both innovative and traditional, with a modern twist. Some are relished instantaneously, while others have to be discovered gradually by the guests due to their unfamiliar flavours. The ACCENT cutlery reflects this journey of discovery for the palette, so it fits in perfectly with our concept,” remarks Stiller.

Stiller's culinary roots lie in Germany. Born in Hildesheim, he not only completed his training in Lower Saxony, but was also awarded his first Michelin star as a chef in Deidesheim back in the late 1990s. In 2004, he moved to Shanghai, where he took the plunge into self-employment in 2008. Taian Table Shanghai was founded in 2016 by chef Stefan Stiller and is the culmination of his vision for a small, intimate and highly food-driven dining destination, where he hopes to bring together like-minded people and break the confines of traditional fine dining. Hidden within a quiet residential area, the restaurant offers an interactive experience, with guests seated around an open kitchen. The style of cooking is refined, modern, and predominantly European, also bearing with some distinctive Asian touches. The team keeps pushing the boundaries of skill and creativity with a brand-new tasting menu every six weeks, capturing each season’s unique spirit and energy. After only a few months, Taian Table was awarded its first star in Shanghai, followed by a second in 2019 and a third in 2021. Taian Table in Guangzhou opened in 2020 and now also has two stars. “We’re proud to be working with Stefan Stiller, one of the most renowned Michelin-star chefs in Asia. His “Taian Table” gourmet concept is an inspiration for anyone interested in fine dining. Our task is to support hotel and gastronomy concepts with suitable offers in the highest product quality – the combination of ACCENT by HEPP and Taian Table by Stefan Stiller demonstrate how well this can work. We look forward to a long-term, exciting and successful partnership with him,” says Carsten Kulcke, General Manager ProHeq GmbH.

Purism in situ
At Taian Table, the seats surround a wooden counter that forms an island where the chefs prepare the food in front of the guests. The industrial-style interior design also harmonises with the place setting design: black place mats, a glass, white serviettes and the cutlery set the stage for the dishes. The ACCENT cutlery collection blends perfectly into this ambience. With a composition combining a rectilinear form with rounded details – particularly prominent in the spoon – HEPP has successfully achieved a fusion of variousstyles. Stiller deliberately chose the silverplated version. With its soft sheen, brilliant reflectivity and high-quality feel, it is the ideal companion for Stiller's culinary creations.
