Dorchester sets sights on New York and Asia

The Dorchester Collection has revealed plans to increase its portfolio by opening properties in New York and Asia.

"Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore are cities where we'd like to be presented," group CEO Christopher Cowdray said in a television interview with Bloomberg. "We would like to be in New York and that's really our key focus."

While a timeframe or extensive details of the expansion were not exposed in the Bloomberg interview, Cowdray did reveal that unlike the majority of its properties, the new hotels would carry the Dorchester name.

"The existing hotels have strong brand names. It would be sacrilege to destroy that," he said.
