Verdi Hotels, part of the Corinthia Hotels Group, has confirmed plans to open two new properties in Prague and Santarém by the end of 2025, as the company marks its first anniversary. The move expands its presence to seven hotels within a year, with both new properties designed to serve growing demand in secondary European markets.

The Prague hotel, Panorama by Verdi Hotels, will include 441 rooms, spa facilities, a restaurant and a bar. In Portugal, Verdi Santarém will open on the south side of the city with 100 rooms, five suites, eight meeting rooms, a fitness club and a lobby bar. The company describes both as catering to business and leisure travellers.

The development marks a strategic effort to grow Verdi Hotels’ European footprint, which executives say is central to the brand’s long-term roadmap. “Prague and Santarém are both new cities for us, and we’re proud to have expanded our portfolio into these vibrant new locations,” said Jonathon Liu, chief commercial officer at Verdi Hotels.

As part of this next phase, Verdi Hotels has joined the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) and integrated into the GHA DISCOVERY loyalty programme. Through this, guests will gain access to member-only perks such as discounted rates, room upgrades and the DISCOVERY Dollars (D$) reward currency, which can be used across more than 850 hotels in 100 countries.

Internally, Verdi’s expansion aligns with broader industry trends in midscale and upscale hotel growth in secondary markets and the increasing value of brand-aligned loyalty programmes. Its entry into the Czech Republic and central Portugal follows a year of active development, including previous openings in Spain and Italy. Verdi Hotels was launched in 2024 under the Corinthia umbrella.

Chairman Alfred Pisani and CEO Simon Casson have described the brand as a way to “future-proof” the group by appealing to younger, experience-led travellers. The brand says it will continue expanding across Europe and into the Middle East, targeting what it describes as “emerging but under-served urban locations”.
