The Charles, a Rocco Forte Hotel in Munich, has completed an extensive renovation of its ground floor, introducing a new interior design scheme that brings together botanical motifs, natural materials and refined art deco touches.

The redesign was carried out by interior designers Paolo Moschino and Philip Vergeylen, in collaboration with Olga Polizzi, Rocco Forte Hotels’ dcirector of design. The refreshed spaces include the main lobby, the Florio Restaurant and Bar, a private dining room, the hotel terrace and the newly opened Circle Bar.

The revamped lobby now features a central display table, flanked by statues and floral arrangements, with a curved plaster wall installation by French artist François Mascarello serving as a visual focal point. The design aims to create an elegant and welcoming atmosphere for guests and visitors.

The hotel’s Florio Restaurant & Bar has been reimagined with a botanical theme inspired by the adjacent Old Botanical Garden. Moss-green wallpaper, natural light and framed botanical illustrations define the restaurant’s aesthetic. The adjoining bar continues this theme with rainforest green and Indian Rainforest Gold marble finishes, wood-clad columns and large strelitzia plants. The bar offers a wide selection of aperitives, wines and spirits, alongside a menu of small plates.

A new private dining room has been added behind semi-transparent sliding doors. This space, which hosts the breakfast buffet in the morning, features parquet flooring in various shades of brown, floral murals and can be reserved for private functions.

The outdoor terrace spans 200m2 and maintains the botanical concept with wrought iron furniture in green tones, patterned cushions and light sculptures by design studio Haberdashery. The sculptures consist of 258 porcelain leaves suspended on fine threads, with some glazed with metallic finishes.

Rounding out the renovation is the Circle Bar, which takes its name from the circular shape of the room and a red steel sculpture by Italian artist Mauro Staccioli located in front of the hotel. Designed with an art deco influence, the bar offers champagne, snacks, teas and patisserie-style desserts.

The renovation marks a significant update to the property, which aims to blend contemporary elegance with nature-inspired elements across its public areas.
