Hotel Management International talks to its president, Rossella Po, about how attention to detail in form and function allowed the company to transition from its humble origins in northern Italy to become a global supplier for the hospitality industry.

How has the 93-year history of Angelo Po informed its relationship with its customers?

Rossella Po: Our customers consider our history as an asset, and one that cannot be matched by our competitors. The knowledge and skill that came from our firm's origins as a blacksmiths have never been diminished by the excellent position Angelo Po has maintained in the marketplace or by the automation of our production processes. Outstanding performance, excellence in design, remarkable ease of cleaning, functionality and ergonomics - these are the significant characteristics that have always marked out Angelo Po's kitchens. In this framework, our customers perceive our company's long history as testament to our reliability, solidity and ability to effectively respond to trends in the marketplace.

How does Angelo Po collaborate with hotels to fit out their kitchen and dining areas?

A team of professionals will analyse the specifications set by the customer to deliver a bespoke solution that remains affordable and environmentally friendly. The layout and the equipment are designed to reduce waste and limit hygiene risks, while at the same time increasing the installation's efficiency. By improving our equipment's use of resources, we ultimately create optimal working conditions. Another design element that also has to be considered is ergonomics. For the chef and their team, working in a kitchen can be exhausting, that is why the equipment must be realised to best facilitate their operations and tasks at peak times.

What were the factors that led CIR food, the official caterer of Expo Milan 2015, to partner with Angelo Po in outfitting the 20 food outlets inside the Universal Exhibition?

Furthermore, one of our greatest strengths lies in pairing our commitment to quality with an international outlook. Angelo Po Grandi Cucine generates about 65% of its turnover abroad, and runs subsidiaries in China, Spain, France and the US. In addition, the company has sales offices in various countries including Singapore, Dubai and Russia. Despite recent turmoil in the market, we have been able to continue investment in new products as well as open new branches all over the world.
