One of Edinburgh’s top spa destinations has launched a new coastal-inspired treatment as part of an exclusive partnership with a local wellness brand – marking a notable shift in its supplier strategy and guest offering.
The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa has teamed up with North Berwick-based Laura Thomas Co, an independent lifestyle company known for its sustainable, refillable products. The move brings the Scottish coastline into the heart of the capital through a new 80-minute treatment designed by the spa’s in-house team.
The Balance & Restore treatment, now available at One Spa, features aromatherapy-led elements including lavender inhalation and massage techniques using plant-based oils produced by the small-batch supplier. It’s the first time the brand has entered the spa sector, despite being a fixture in more than 150 boutique hotels across the UK and Europe.
The treatment forms part of a wider ‘Escape to the Coast’ experience, which also includes three hours of access to the spa’s facilities – among them a rooftop Hydropool, thermal suite and poolside sauna. Guests are sent home with a Laura Thomas Co candle and even a mini tub of Arran Ice Cream, nodding to the partnership’s local credentials.
The spa’s treatment lead, Heather Roy, who previously trained therapists for ESPA, led the development of the new service. She described the offering as “a bespoke result of a deep dive into Laura’s brand”, with early guest feedback described as “very positive”.
Laura Thomas, founder of the eponymous company, said the collaboration is a natural extension of her coastal wellness ethos: “To have the opportunity to bring a sense of Scottish coastal calm into the city is really special. This collaboration lets us showcase our values of sustainability and simplicity while offering a truly luxurious experience. One Spa is the perfect partner to bring that vision to life.”
In addition to the treatment, Laura Thomas Co products – including hand washes, lotions and candles – are now available to purchase at the spa. The brand’s sustainability-first ethos, which includes refill schemes and 100% natural ingredients, is increasingly in demand among hospitality operators seeking to align with guest expectations around environmental values.
Fiona Young, spa director at One Spa, added: “This is more than just a new treatment, it’s a celebration of local, sustainable wellness. Laura’s ethos aligns beautifully with our values and the response from guests has already been fantastic.”
The partnership reflects a growing trend within the hotel spa sector towards locally sourced, sustainable suppliers – not just for amenities, but for fully integrated guest experiences.
