HVS Hodges Ward Elliott launches debt advisory arm

28 April 2023

HVS Hodges Ward Elliott (HVS HWE), the hotel brokerage and investment banking division of global hotel consultancy HVS, has announced the appointment of Tim Barbrook as head of its new debt advisory business for the UK and Europe.

The division will provide clients with access to the most efficient capital, advise on structure and provide transaction execution support.

Barbrook joins HVS HWE from Crosslane Fund Managers where he was head of debt finance focussed on sourcing, executing and monitoring debt finance across a variety of real estate asset classes. Prior to this, he was an executive director at Wimmer Financial and a corporate banking manager at Lloyds Banking Group.

Charles Human, president of HVS Europe, commented: “Increasingly our clients have approached us regarding debt and funding advice and with such a range of funding sources and structures available it makes sense to offer independent advice in a more formal way. With his wealth of experience and knowledge, Tim is the perfect appointment to lead this new division.”

Tim Barbrook, head of debt advisory, HVS HWE said: “I am hugely excited to be joining one of the world’s leading global hospitality brands at a time that debt capital markets are undergoing their most significant repricing for more than a decade. HVS works with a fantastic range of international investors and I look forward to broadening the offering and delivering exceptional results for our clients.”

HVS Hodges Ward Elliott is the only global consulting firm focused exclusively on the hospitality industry. With more than 250 people in over 50 offices throughout the world, HVS offer expertise across all types of hospitality assets, including hotels, restaurants, casinos, shared-ownership lodging, mixed-use developments, golf courses, and spa and wellness, as well as conventions, sports and entertainment facilities.
